7 PARTS OF YOUR CAR TO CHECK BEFORE LONG TRIPS

Ahead of each long trip, take the time to check your car to be sure of its performance. This will help you and your family enjoy the journey to its fullest. Here are 7 important parts of the car that are prioritized for checking before your departure:

1. Battery

The battery needs to reach sufficient capacity and show no signs of electrical leakage so that the car always operates stably throughout your trip. While checking, if you see a layer of white residue on the battery, a bulging tank size or other abnormalities, please go to a reputable garage/service center to have it checked and replaced promptly.

2. Tires

Tires are essential components that form the movement of every car. They are also the parts that continuously have direct contact with the road surfaces and support the entire weight of the vehicle. In order to have a smooth and safe trip, take some time to check on tires.

If your tires have been used for more than 5 years or on over 60,000 km since the last change, you should consider replacing them to achieve high performance as well as comfort for the whole journey.

Moreover, you can also equip additional accessories like tire pressure sensor, emergency tire pump, etc. to handle unexpected problems that may occur during your travel.

3. Brake system

Braking is an active safety system that helps the driver adjust the car speed as desired. Checking the car’s brakes will ensure safety for the driver and other surrounding vehicles.

Brake pads, brake fluid and brake sensors are three details you should check before each long trip to ensure the brake system is operating at peak performance. Brake fluid should be changed after every 30,000 – 40,000 km. For brake pads, the limit estimation is 80,000 km or 2 – 3 years of use.

4. Engine

Considered as the “heart” of the vehicle, the engine has an extremely detailed structure and ensures the survival of each vehicle. Therefore, the engine is an essential part to pay attention to during the car inspection process, so that each long trip is safer and more enjoyable. Engine oil and coolant are two factors that every driver should focus on. Under the traffic conditions in Vietnam, you should change engine oil after every 8,000 – 10,000 km to ensure and prolong engine life. Related parts such as air filters and spark plugs should also be checked before each long trip to ensure the engine block achieves the most optimal output power.

5. Lighting system

Make sure all the car’s headlights, taillights and turn signals are working well according to suggested standards. Checking the lighting system will help you operate your vehicle safely during your outings, especially at night.

 6. Air conditioning system

Summer is the season that plenty of people choose to travel with family and friends. If you plan to go on a long trip by car during this time, check the car’s air conditioning system before hand, that everyone can happily enjoy throughout the journey.

7. Wiper system

Check the amount of washer fluid and replace the wipers once a year to ensure clear visibility. In particular, before your long trip, to have peace of mind when traveling in different weather and road conditions, take the time to check this system for a safe journey and a confident every-road conquest.
