MITSUBISHI MOTORS VIETNAM CU CHI CITY TRAIL 2024: OVER 3,000 ATHLETES CONQUER TOUGH TERRAIN

The Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam Cu Chi City Trail 2024, held on July 27th and 28th, was the sole trail running event in Ho Chi Minh City combining both road and trail running. Offering four distances: 7km, 10km, 21km, and 42km, the event attracted over 3,000 athletes to conquer the challenging trails of Cu Chi District. 

The opening ceremony on the morning of July 27th was well-attended. Besides receiving race kits, athletes participated in activities to familiarize themselves with the rules and safety precautions. Even the heavy rain that poured down for hours in the afternoon and evening could not dampen the athletes’ spirits. Many participants continued to arrive and register until the end of the day. Notably, the presence of children and the elderly, including a 78-year-old, further fueled the competitive spirit among all athletes. 

The adverse weather conditions made the racecourse on the morning of July 28th extremely challenging, with the trails becoming muddy and treacherous. Despite this, over 3,000 athletes gathered early at the starting line, ready to take on the challenge. 

The trail running experience was more than just a regular marathon. The unexpected challenges posed by the slippery terrain required athletes to make careful decisions to ensure both safety and a good performance. These unforeseen obstacles further ignited their fighting spirit and determination to reach the finish line. Although some might have slipped or felt exhausted, most athletes successfully completed the race thanks to their perseverance and willpower. The joy and excitement were palpable as organizers welcomed the athletes at the finish line.
