THE JOURNEY TO CONQUER TAM ĐẢO CITY TRAIL

Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam – Tam Dao City Trail 2025 was successfully held over two days, February 22-23, 2025, attracting nearly 2,500 domestic and international athletes across four distances: 5 km, 10 km, 25 km, and 42 km. More than just an energetic start to the new year, the race was a journey to explore limits, where every step told a story of willpower, endurance, and the spirit to overcome all challenges, moving forward with confidence and peace of mind.

4:00 AM, March 23: Tam Dao town was enveloped in freezing fog with a temperature of 10 degrees Celsius. Thousands of people stood ready for the moment when Mr. Tomoki Yanagawa, General Director of Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam, waved the starting flag at the central park. The 42 km race officially began with cheers filled with energy. Triton Athlete led the pack, BiLED headlights turning the drizzle into sharp crystal ribbons as they climbed the slopes. The marathoners ventured deeper into the forest.

The 42 km race was a formidable challenge, exceeding the expectations of even the most seasoned athletes. At an altitude of over 900m above sea level, Tam Dao offers significantly less oxygen than the plains, forcing the body to adapt to the change. However, the highland air is much fresher than the dense smog of big cities. The fog grew thicker, limiting visibility to almost tactile senses rather than sight.

The ease of the initial steps quickly turned into pressure as wind and rain lashed at the forest’s edge and in the valley. Athletes had to climb the steps in the thousand-year-old Upper Temple area. Rivers, streams, trails, and slopes surrounded by lush vegetation meant that a moment’s distraction could lead runners off course, wasting time to get back on track.

After 5 hours, 4 minutes, and 6 seconds, the first Hero of the 42 km race reached the finish line. Without professional running gear or support equipment, athlete Le Tan Hi surged ahead in simple shoes with a small light on his head. That’s the spirit of trail running, where we mobilize all our physical strength, endurance, and unwavering will to conquer the milestones we aim for. Tam Dao City Trail is not a sprint. It shares victory equally among everyone, because the only person each athlete needs to defeat is themselves.

While the 42 km race saw many dropouts as well as the ultimate glory of overcoming the longest distance, the 25 km, 10 km, and 5 km races helped many non-professional athletes discover their hidden potential.

The 25 km race, though shorter, was equally challenging, requiring the same terrain traversal as the 42 km.

The 10 km and 5 km races had the highest number of registrants. These moderate distances allowed athletes to experience the positive impact of exercise and enjoy the beauty of the historic Tam Dao town.

Tam Dao City Trail has connected Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam with customers, the dealer network, and sports enthusiasts, forming a united community driven by the desire for transformation and the determination to move forward on every journey.
